Divisions -

Entrepreneurism & Small Business

Welcome to the

Enterpreneurism & Small Business Division!

Mission: To enhance and nurture the innovative entrepreneurial environment and ensure that both the tools and the necessary economic climate are available to assist small and emerging businesses to grow and create jobs.

We Advocate on Issues of

Concern to Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs

• We work closely with the Business Advocacy and Government Relations Division on small businesses and entrepreneurial issues. That division supports small businesses and entrepreneurs by:

-   Working with elected and appointed officials at all levels of government to ensure that any enacted legislation does not create an increased burden on entrepreneurs and small businesses;

-   Identifying and advocating at the state level for specific legislation that promotes the entrepreneurial and small business environment and provides incentives for the creation of jobs;

-   Providing opportunities for entrepreneurial and small business people to testify and participate in locally held federal agency field hearings and congressional subcommittee meetings on entrepreneurism and small business.

Provide Educational and Networking Opportunities

Center for Commercialization & Entrepreneurial Training (CCET) – We  co-sponsor free monthly classes which are an intensive how-to education on everything from entering the entrepreneurial world, market research, business plans, financial management, preparing and presenting the business plan, and operations start-up, monitoring and human resources.

Innovate New Mexico Conference – The Chamber hosts innovative and entrepreneurial keynote speakers, candid panel discussions about encouraging innovation, learning from successful entrepreneurs, support and assistance the entrepreneur can receive in New Mexico, and how New Mexico can strengthen economic development, align current and future talent force needs, and create a world-class education system to support a strong entrepreneurial and innovative climate for companies in New Mexico.

Monthly Home-Based Business Events - These free monthly events allow the home-based business owner to network with their peers, showcase their products and services. The events include free workshops on the unique issues faced by home-based businesses.

Provide Assistance and Tools

Information Portal – The Chamber responds to requests from entrepreneurs and small businesses in need of assistance. The division works with both public and private partners to provide information on city and state regulations, demographics, and general business operations to the small business community to help ensure the continued growth of economic development in the region.

Economic Outlook Conference - The Chamber and Wells Fargo Bank presents a leading Wells Fargo economist who will provide the economic forecast for 2007, with other guest speakers highlighting local, regional and national trends pertinent to Albuquerque.

Provide Discounts and Savings to the Bottom Line

Member-to-Member Discounts - Over fifty companies offer you (and all of your employees) discounts, including the Office Depot discount program which can save your company 20-60% off the most commonly used items.

Joint U.S. Chamber Membership - Through a special arrangement with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, small business owners have joint membership with the U.S. Chamber at no additional cost. Benefits include exclusive access to the online Small Business Center, which includes 10,000 pages of tips and tools designed specifically for small businesses, free online web-seminars, and a variety of discount programs.

Complimentary Meeting Space – Members have access to two board rooms free of charge. This is especially great for our small business members who don't have the space to host seminars or meet with clients.

Provide Recognition to

Small Businesses & Entrepreneurs

Duke City Dozen Awards Luncheon – We will provide recognition and awards for innovation, excellence and contributions to the workplace and community by presenting ten Innovate Albuquerque awards, the Maxi Anderson award, and the Home-Based Business of the Year award.
