Albuquerque Reads - Education Reform
Character Counts!

Every child can learn and be taught. It is up to educators, administrators, legislators, business people and the community to create a public education system that supports all children in achieving high expectations. When we say all means all, we mean it. As a community, we cannot accept anything less and must embrace a "whatever it takes" attitude so that every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Our Vision
A world class education system that addresses the needs of every child and sets the benchmark

for the rest of the nation. A highly-skilled, well-educated workforce prepared for all the future has to offer.

A region and state that enjoys a high quality of life, a robust economy, high-paying jobs and a

lower crime rate. A community that raises the bar, closes the gap, and accepts no excuses.

Our Commitment
We will work at both the state and local levels to bring about true, systemic education reform.

We are committed to aligning reforms so that each individual school, especially the APS system, has the ability and the support to achieve the desired results, leaving no child behind or unchallenged.

The report, Every Child: Reinventing Public Schools, was released in June 2001. Since that time, the Chamber continues to work on education reform and consequently, some elements of the original report have changed. Philosophically, however, our position, that every child deserves a quality education, remains the same.

Every Child: Reinventing Public Schools Report
"We can, whenever and wherever we choose, successfully teach all children whose schooling is of interest to us. We already know more than we need to do that. Whether or not we do it must finally depend on how we feel about the fact that we haven't so far." - Dr. Ron Edmonds, Founder of the Effective Schools Movement

We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the sponsors of our Every Child education reform effort. Without their support, this initiative could not succeed.
